Who we are?Ella is a daughter of Moshav Amikam. For years she was engaged in teaching horse riding. She also did carpentry and construction. In 2006, she began her studies at the Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot, where she studied plant protection.Jordan came from the seagull farm in the Negev. Over the years, he has dealt extensively in the various fields of construction and focused on the frames of agricultural tools and buildings. In 2006 he established a nursery for propagating olive trees and during this period he discovered his love for plants. The following year he joined Ella in Rehovot and began his studies in the Department of Soil and Water Sciences.About BasketIn the fall of 2009 we got married and returned to the farm in Moshav Amikam. In the farm yard we started cultivating a vegetable garden, as in all our houses before. We planted a large bed of sweet corn, and when it started to ripen we couldnt keep up. We started distributing the corn to the neighbors from the moshav and this provoked positive reactions. People have expressed interest and asked us to let them know if and when we have more vegetables. At this point we saw an opportunity to connect our love of working the land with the peoples interest in local produce. Later we discovered that this idea already has a name - Habak - "Agriculture in the cooperation of the community", and in English CSA - "Community Supported Agriculture". The idea is the existence of mutual commitment and cooperation between the farmer and the local community. At first we treated the idea with hesitation. The whole thing seemed to us to be disconnected from todays reality. Despite this, we decided to continue this way and conduct ourselves according to the demands of the audience and the feelings of the heart. In the vegetable garden we grow a large variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs and spice plants and tea. We market the produce using the "weekly basket" method. The weekly basket method is a marketing method that offers a relatively fixed variety of vegetables to each customer. More information about the vegetable baskets on the orders and deliveries page. The name basketAt first we chose this name because it sounds good to us and is rolling. The meaning of the name is that it has an appropriate image, it is a small basket. A small basket - a basket - necessarily contains good things. Also small things are crowded and captivating. While we were trying to decide on one name or another we looked at the dictionary which said that basket is also the name of a wild plant. It is a common plant with white flowers. We then realized that this was the chosen name.Common basket is a small plant from the sukchi family (like a carrot for example). According to the definition of Avi Shamida, the wild flower guide in Israel: "An upright annual plant, branched in the upper part, 35-50 cm high. Its all hairy, and looks like its covered in dust because of the white hairs... It blooms in April, and produces white rosettes of flowers that stand out from afar... Common basket is the most common species among the canopies on the roadsides and in open areas..."
